Every time we laugh or frown our underlying facial muscles contract which cause lines and wrinkles. The deepness of these vary from person to person, but the more emotion we show the deeper these lines and wrinkles are likely to be.

Is it safe?
Botox has been approved for cosmetic use and has been used for over 30 years without any long term problems.

How does Botox work?
Botox quite simply blocks the nerve transmission to the facial muscles so that they do not contract. After treatment normal facial expressions are unaffected but the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled.

What does the treatment involve?
A micro needle and a small amount of Botox is injected, precisely into several locations on the face. Most people only experience a mild temporary discomfort. There may be a slight redness immediately after but this settles within a few hours. Sometimes slight bruising is experienced.

What can and cant I do after treatment?
Within a few hours we advise not to do vigorous exercise, drink excessive alcohol or lie down flat, other than that life can continue as normal.

How long before the Botox works?
The greatest effect is seen within 1-2 weeks but begins to work in about 3-5 days.

How long does it last?
This varies depending on individuals, but usually 3-6 months. Repeat treatments have shown to last longer. It should be noted that Botox may be less effective for those over 65 years of age.

Will I look expressionless?
Not at all. Specialist training enables us to minimise any possible loss of expression by injecting only the specific muscles responsible for the wrinkles.
